Laid-back and synthy indie-rockers Future Islands brings their national tour to HumBrews in Arcata on Monday as they continue to tour in support of their new and fourth studio LP “Singles,” an album produced by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs/TV on the Radio). “Future Islands' surging, swelling, dramatic art-pop always deserved a bigger audience than it had, and the tweaks that the band makes on 'Singles' are subtle and minute, but they add up to make a tremendous difference,” Stereogum wrote. “On this album, the band pushes the tempo a bit, sharpens the hooks, makes its song-structures just a tiny bit more firm and concrete.” They recently performed their latest single “Seasons (I've Been Waiting On You)” on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The new-wave-esque band -- keyboardist and programmer Gerrit Welmers, guitarist William Cashion and vocalist Samuel T. Herring -- is now signed with London label 4AD, an imprint that also houses Bon Iver, Daughter and The National. Lo-fi punk duo Ed Schrader's Music Beat, also from Baltimore, will open. Admission is $10 to check out the 21-plus show with doors opening at 9 p.m. Monday at the 856 10th St. venue.
