To emancipate is to set free, and the music of Portland-based trip-hop producer Emancipator is aimed to achieve just that: To find that introspective place of mind where the audio takes hold and all inhibitions are lost. Oftentimes we're bounded by monetary setbacks, physical or mental exhaustion and social frustrations, but on April 1, the troubles will be nowhere to be found at the Arcata Theatre Lounge. The laid-back grooves initiate contemplation, relaxation and an inability to remain immobile at the drop of the first downbeat. Currently touring with an ensemble that includes a four-piece live band and a custom large-scale visual experience, the musician is also bringing along San Francisco trip-hop musician Nym and mask-wearing chillwave producer Slow Magic. Advance passes for the 21-plus show are $15. The doors open at 9:30 p.m. at the 1036 G St. venue.
