Tea Leaf Green sounds like they're from Humboldt County, both by name and musical stylings.

The San Francisco rock/jam band returns to the Redwood Curtain Tuesday night at the Red Fox Tavern and promise that classic rock in the tradition of The Band, Grateful Dead and Wilco.

For the last 10 years, Tea Leaf Green have been on the road and judging by the extensive show list on their myspace page, they don't plan on changing their MO anytime soon.

The band is touring this time in support of their fifth studio record, “Raise Up the Tent.”

”We'll raise up our tent in any town that will have or else we'll be movin' on,” states their song “Keepin' the Faith.”

”Raise Up the Tent” was produced by David Lowery who's worked with Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven and Counting Crows.

”The album presents 11, well-crafted songs that tempt the listener to set off on the archetypal American adventure,” stated a band's press release. “In times past, you could run away and join the circus or ride the freight trains, and Tea Leaf Green offers the same seductive pull to today's kids.”

Their time on the road has landed Tea Leaf Green on some of the larger music festival lineups around the country. Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, 10K Lakes and The Echo Project just to name a few.

Their time on the road has also got them on some stages with the likes of The Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio, Gov't Mule, Bruce Hornsby, John Popper, Bob Weir and Sean Lennon.

”Taking classic sounds and giving them a present-day polish,” the press release reads. “Tea Leaf Green reminds us at every turn just how alluring rock 'n' roll can be.”

And live, the band reaches deep into its jam band side of things and throws something new to the audience at nearly every show.

”Tea Leaf Green consistently delivers mind bending live performances to their loyal and ever-growing fan base,” the release reads. “Nightly, the band explores the depths of their prodigious songbook, taking everyone along for an exhilarating ride.”

It's been a little less than a year since the band lost its original bassist Ben Chambers, who left the band to “pursue some of my life's other passions.”

The band now made up of Josh Clark, on guitar and vocals; Trevor Garrod, on keyboards and vocals; Scott Rager, drums and percussion; and Reed Mathis on bass; will be playing the Red Fox Tavern Tuesday night.
