Deadlines are fast approaching and there are hundreds of categories to enter in this year's Humboldt County Fair. Entry form deadlines are July 25 and Aug. 1. Pictured: Floriculture is an expanding area of creativity and beauty.

The Humboldt County Fair is in full swing and preparing for the rush of entries headed their way for the this year's upcoming 118th year. This year the fair will take place from Aug. 14 through Aug. 24 with a theme of "The Bounty of the County."

This year there will be over $35,000 in awards and prizes. There will be free admission days and lots of new exciting activities.

Entry form deadlines are as follows: for still exhibits and livestock, July 25; for floriculture, horticulture, and rabbits, Aug. 1.

The fair will be holding entry assistance days on from 1-5 p.m. on July 10, July 17, and July 24. Participants should bring their information, payment method, questions, and the fair will do the rest. Please check in at the fair office to be connected with your helper and online work station.

The fair is offering pre-sale tickets at a reduced expense. Payment and form are due to the fair office by Aug. 8 at 5 pm. Tickets will be available in the office or at fair time in the "will call" window located at the main entrance.

General admission tickets, 13 to 61 years old, $5 presale or $8 at the gate. Senior citizen admission tickets, 62 years or older, $4 presale or $6 at the gate. Children admission tickets, 6 to 12 years, $2 presale or $4 at the gate. Pre-sale racing tickets are $1 and $3 at the gate. Reserved parking is limited and pre-sale is the only way to ensure a spot at $100 for the length of the fair.

Pre-sale carnival ride coupons for $20 offer a $10 discount for parents and those young at heart. Carnival bands will be $30 at the fair without a pre-sale ticket.
