As “Bridgegate” wears on, Twitter has been the place to follow the madness. From Chris Christie to Fort Lee to everything in between, the news broke first on Twitter and broke fast.

But it wasn't all serious.

In fact, it got downright silly at times, especially when the Bruce Springsteen lyrics got trotted out. A lot of people had a lot of fun transposing and changing The Boss's songs to fit the scandal.

Well, I've decided to go one step further.

We'll call this one “Fort Lee” and you should sing it as if it was recorded during the “Nebraska” sessions. Sing it slow, with sorrow and fear.

And so, with sincere and deep apologies to Mr. Springsteen, I present to you ...

“Fort Lee”

(lyrics by Jeff Edelstein, music by Briz Conrad)

Jimmy killed a man in Teaneck last night.

Had a shot and a beer, wasn't looking to fight.

But the Rooster showed up before it was light

And Jimmy had to do what he thought was right.

Now it's time to leave, have to ditch this zip code

No time for goodbyes, Jimmy just had to go.

So he got in his Chevy and he lightened his load.

Stomped on the gas and cruised down the road.

But Jimmy didn't know about Bridget Kelly

And Jimmy didn't know about Bill Baroni.

Jimmy tried to get out, but oh can't you see.

It's time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.

So Jimmy drummed his fingers on the hard plastic dash.

There was nowhere to go, he tapped his cigarette ash.

He rolled down his windows and he smelled all the trash.

Some four hours later, he'd grown a mustache.

Now Jimmy got caught in a rich man's game.

Politics and power and all for the fame.

Jimmy's time was short and it was a shame.

Jimmy didn't know where to place all the blame.

'Cause Jimmy didn't know about Bridget Kelly

And Jimmy didn't know about Bill Baroni.

Jimmy tried to get out, but oh can't you see.

It's time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.

Now Jimmy got pinched and it was a scene

He sits in state prison facing life to 18.

He reads about Bridgegate and thinks it's obscene

That he's rotting here and not David Wildstein.

And now Jimmy wakes up and tries to lie low

But he feels like a part of a big puppet show.

He lies there and wonders and goes through it slow

And really can't believe the Gov. didn't know.

And Jimmy didn't know about Bridget Kelly

And Jimmy didn't know about Bill Baroni.

Jimmy tried to get out, but oh can't you see.

It's time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.
