Fortuna welcomed in a soft opening a new sports bar located in the Strong's Creek Plaza. The sign outside reads “Timeout”, but the official name of the new bar is “Timeout Sports Pub and Wine Bar.”
The business is the dream and creation of three local families who are no strangers to Fortuna. Keith and Becky Coulombe, Allan and Cricket Baird, and Randall Stone put their heads together to “meet a need,” said Allan Baird.
Timeout had a soft opening after the Fortuna Apple Harvest. Many locals came out to support the newly-opened businesses.
”We are the first true sports pub in Fortuna and Humboldt County, and we are happy to fill the need,” Keith Coulombe said
”We saw this need and it has never been tried in Humboldt County to this extent,” Allan Baird added.
There are eight TVs, a conference room with a TV that can be rented, and a separate 'End Zone Bar' with a 70” TV. The walls are lined with local sports team memorabilia, including a goal post from the Fortuna Huskies.
”We will have a grand opening in the next few weeks with the World Series. We just wanted to get the doors open and get moving on this project while we are still working out the last few details,” Keith Coulombe said. “It is a work in progress.”
Timeout's hours will be 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The sports bar is located at 1095 South Fortuna Blvd. For more information, contact Timeout at 725-9100.
