The Fortuna Planning Commission, the Historical Commission, and the Parks and Recreation Commission, will have vacancies beginning Jan. 1, 2014, according to a city of Fortuna press release.

The Planning Commission is responsible for advising the City Council on environmental matters and the development of the city; making recommendations on the General Plan, zoning of property, the capital improvement program, annexations, and subdivisions of land; and making decisions on small subdivisions of land, use permits, and variances.

The Fortuna Historical Commission was established to preserve both the city's history and the Northwestern Pacific Depot Building.

The Parks and Recreation Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council, city manager, and city staff in all matters pertaining to public parks and recreation.
