”We are excited to be able to expand our services to the Fortuna area,” Rose Gale-Zoellick, executive director of the Breast Health Project, said in a press release. “We know that many women in the Eel River Valley who are diagnosed with cancer find it too difficult to come to our office in Arcata, so with the help of volunteers we are taking our services closer to them.”
The new site provides a lending library, a support group, and other assistance for women concerned about breast or gynecologic cancer. All services are free.
The open house will be held at the site, 1719 Main St., Fortuna, in space provided by the Visiting Angels business office. The time will be from 4-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
”We hope everyone in the community who has been touched by cancer will come and see the site and meet the area volunteers who are making it possible,” Gale-Zoellick said in the release.
She also expressed appreciation to area civic clubs and foundations that are helping to support the site and to the Visiting Angels management that has provided the location free of charge.
