Looking for a place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine in Fortuna? You might try the Eel River Brewery. Wait, the brewery?

At a recent event, the Fortuna business invited its customers to help choose the wines that will be available for tasting at Eel River Brewery. The comments gathered will help the Brewery create a new 2013-2014 wines list that will soon be available for tasting.

The stars of the Wine Under the Stars event, held June 29 from 6-9 p.m. were the wines that were available for tasting. There were several local wineries highlighted, along with regional and international wines.

Brewery co-owner Margaret Frigon said part of the incentive for the event was when she was talking to a customer who said there was no place in Fortuna to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

”Eel River Brewing Company is the craft beer hub of Eel River Valley ... and with the revamped wine list to follow, the pub will be Fortuna's wine destination as well,” Frigon said. “Finally, a place where beer aficionados and wine lovers alike can gather, drink, and be merry.”

200 tickets were sold for the event that took place in the beer garden at the brewery, and the weather cooperated to provide a warm and wonderful evening. Music was provided by Michael Dayvid, who played his guitar and sang a variety of songs as he strolled through the crowd.
