Congratulations to Ferndale High's Terris Becker who finished No. 6 on the Humboldt-Del Norte boys prep golf leader board at the end of the regular season and qualified for the North Coast Section's Division 2 Tournament of Champions. Becker shot a 73 at the final H-DN event at Eureka Municipal Golf Course back on April 25, to cement his spot in the standings. From there Becker joined Del Norte's Cobi Lockwood, St Bernards Huston Knox and the Eureka High team of five athletes moving on to the section playoffs. Becker as well as the others made the trip south and on May 6th played the 18 holes at Petaluma's Rooster Run Golf Course. Terris Becker's result of 80 put him right in the thick of things as he shot just five strokes off of the final spot that moved on to the NCS Division 1 Tournament of Champions. From there the top finishers would move on to the Nor Cal Championships, then the CIF State Championships.

Becker consistently led the Ferndale Wildcats team this year as his senior season of prep golf saw him shoot in the seventies, four times during the campaign. His 73 at Eureka Muni was his low net of the season however, his 75 at Del Norte and his 77 at Benbow were also fine results. Ferndale's Grady Titus locked down his #2 position on the Ferndale team and he shot an 81 at the regular season finale in at Eureka Muni for his best result of the year. Teammates Tyler O'Reilly's 83 and Riley Foster's 86 at the same event led the team to a solid finish in the H-DN standings.

The Fortuna High boys golf team also had solid results during the just completed season. Husky Jordan Gillette shot a 85 at Benbow Golf Course and teammate Dalton Cleveland posted an 89 at the same event. Cameron Dewell shot a 90 up at Del Norte and a 94 the week before at Benbow. The Fortuna team was young and inexperienced this time around but watch for them to move up in the standings in the future.
