Even those who do not celebrate Christmas or who would just as soon skip the whole production, likely have one or two soft spots for the music that flows so abundantly during the winter celebration.

Fortuna River Lodge will be filled with those festive tunes for the 36th annual Christmas Music Festival from 12:30 to 6:15 p.m. Sunday bringing tubas, accordions, barbershop singers, choirs, bands and a full orchestra together to perform. The Festival draws a selection of talent from all over Humboldt County.

Here is this year's schedule:

12:30 p.m. - All Seasons Orchestra;

1:15 p.m. - Humboldt Harmonaires;

1:45 p.m. - Humboldt Accordionaires;

2:15 p.m. - Scotia Band;

3 p.m. - Ferndale Community Choir;

4 p.m. - College of the Redwoods Concert Band;

4:30 p.m. - Tuba Christmas;

5 p.m. - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Choir;

5:30 p.m. - Fortuna High School Music Department; and

6 p.m. - The sing-along finale.

Audience members are invited to join in the sing-along finale featuring Silent Night and the Hallelujah chorus.

”Don't worry about knowing all the words,” the organizers said. “The audience is backed by many of the day's choir singers and lyrics are on the program.”

The festival is free but several charitable groups benefit from donations at the event. The purchase of refreshments benefits the Fortuna Junior Academy, and cash donations will be accepted for the Santa's Sleigh toy and clothing drive. Those attending may also contribute to the St. Joseph's Pantry Shelf -- Fortuna's holiday food drive. Non-perishable food donations may be left in bins located inside the River Lodge.
