Bluesy singer-songwriter Kaye Bohler is often referred to as the “white Tina Turner" for her vocal strength and stage presence. She and her blues band will take the stage in Arcata on Wednesday night. Cover cost not yet determined, 21+ show.

What: Three Bad Jacks, The Generators

When: 10 p.m. Wednesday

Where: Red Fox Tavern, 415 Fifth St., Eureka

Admission: $10, 21+

Three Bad Jacks, who play a lively mix of Elvis-punk fused with stand-up bass rockabilly, will return to the Red Fox for a show on Wednesday night. LA punk-rockers The Generators will also perform.

What: Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons

When: 9:30 p.m. Thursday

Where: Humboldt Brews, 856 10th St., Arcata

Admission: $12, 21+

Influenced by Elvis Costello, Neil Young, John Lennon and Steve Earle, power-rock group Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons has shared the stage with Young, The Flaming Lips, Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets) and David Lindley. Set to return to HumBrews on Thursday night, their latest album “Happy Book” uses the musicianship of members of The Decemberists, Blitzen Trapper and many others.

What: Owl Paws, Strix Vega

When: 9 p.m. Thursday

Where: Jambalaya, 915 H St., Arcata

San Francisco acoustic-indie quartet Owl Paws will deliver a hoot of a good time at the Jam on Thursday night.

What: Basstoberfest (KMUD benefit)

When: 8 p.m. Friday

Where: Mateel Community Center, 59 Rusk Lane, Redway

Admission: $10, all ages

In what's described as a bass music, art and multimedia benefit for KMUD, Basstoberfest will feature electronic music sets from locals like dubstep dude Psy Fi, bass-bomber Piper, heartcore artist Haiku and beat-maker Cacao as well as a star from out of the area -- South Africa's DJ Dirtbag. The evening will also boast live art by Roman Villagrana and beer. “Strap on your glitter-infested dancing shoes, fairy wings and magical buttons and come and trip the light fantastic,” reads a news release.

What: Record Swap Meet

When: 10 a.m. Sunday

Where: Humboldt Brews, 856 10th St., Arcata

Admission: $1 (entry), $25 (table)

On Sunday morning at HumBrews music fans can buy or sell thousands of vinyl LPs, 45s, CDs, collectibles and more at the Record Swap Meet. Entry is only a buck. A limited number of vending tables for $25 may still be available by reaching out to humboldtrecordswap@hotmail.com. The Sunday fun will be accompanied by some DJs spinnin', by the way.

What: Howlin' Rain, Midday Veil, White Manna

Where: The Shanty, 213 Third St., Eureka

Admission: $7 (door), 21+

Eureka native Ethan Miller will take his Rick Rubin-backed psych-rock five-piece out of San Francisco to The Shanty for a bar-packing good time on Tuesday, Oct. 23. They'll play older hits as well as the new masterpieces heard on “Russian Wilds,” out via American Recordings. Seattle ambient-rockers Midday Veil and local psych-rockers White Manna will also play.

What: John Brown's Body

East Coast future-roots reggae stars John Brown's Body are touring in support of their new release “JBB In Dub.” They'll make bodies move and groove on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at HumBrews.
