The Wildcats got off to a late start this season and lost in straight sets (25-12, 25-14, 25-11) to the Tigers in last week's preseason match held in Ferndale. The loss dropped the Lady Cats to 2-4 on the young season. However, Ferndale showed plenty of potential that will pay off in later games. Meanwhile, the defending Big 5 champion Tigers swept the Fortuna Huskies on Tuesday 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-13).

The Lady Huskies came up short against the Loggers in three very close sets on Sept. 12, but came back the next evening and shut down St. Bernard's three sets to none. Taylor Barnhart had 10 kills at the net and Nicole Johnson served 9 unanswered points in a row to pace the winning effort.
