Lynn Freeman captured the Aug. 30 day's play of “five and four” with a score of 33.5. Judie Hufford, Susan Linson and Vickie Thornton tied for the second spot with 34, followed by Nova Heilbronn, 34.5 and NanSea Russ, 35. Vickie Thornton and Jo Ann French tied for low putts with 33 while NanSea Russ carded the low gross of 89 and Judie Hufford, the low net of 70. Closest to the pin honors went to Vickie Thornton on no. 2, Carolyn Podratz on no. 11 and Judie Hufford on no. 16. The tournament was played at Redwood Empire Golf and Country Club in Fortuna.
Carol Kinser won the Aug. 23 day's play of “throw out” with a score of 45 followed by Vickie Thornton, 46, NanSea Russ, 48 and Carolyn Podratz, 49. Janet Barnwell carded the low gross of 85 and Vickie Thornton, the low net of 68. Dale Harris had the low putts of the day with 26. NanSea Russ had closest to the pin honors on no. 9 and Carolyn Podratz on no. 16. The Aug. 16 day's play of “blind holes” was won by a tie between Sherron Bissmeyer and Carol Kinser with 50. Sherron Bissmeyer had the low gross of 96 and Carol Kinser, the low net of 69 and the low putts of 27. Both tournaments were played at Redwood Empire Golf and Country Club in Fortuna.
Several teams of ladies from Redwood Empire won first place at Salmon Run Golf Course, outside of Brookings, Ore., on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17.
Janet Barnwell, Carolyn Podratz, Lisa Klar and Lorna Denman won first gross in the first flight; Jo Ann French, Judie Hufford, NanSea Russ and Robin Wheat took first net in the first flight; Colette Johanson, Wincel Nicholas, Cheryl Hurst and Jean Satterlee won first gross in the third flight. Kathy Salizzoni aced the par three 7th hole to add another hole-in-one to her list of several.
