1. Fundraiser-bazaar for Ferndale Church of the Assumption

Each October, the Portuguese Hall on Ocean Avenue in Ferndale comes alive with multi-generations of the young at heart attending the Assumption Parish Annual Bazaar. Since 1935, this event has been a favorite of countless local families. 2011 is no exception. This year's Bazaar will be held the weekend of Oct. 21 and 22. A dinner will be served starting at 6:30 p.m., with games at 7 p.m.

Chairmen Jerry and Pam Lema, assisted by Gary and Patti Belli, are planning a bigger than ever event.

Children won't be disappointed at the Fish Pond or trying their luck and the ten-cent booth. Everyone loves to visit while playing Bingo. The ever popular Cake Booth has desserts made by some of Ferndale's finest cooks. The Country Store is extremely generous in filling their boxes of groceries to be won for 25 cents a chance. The parish ladies have worked throughout the year making sought after prizes in the Fancy Work Booth. Some wonderful buys can be had for the right bid in the Silent Auction. There's something for everyone.

Funds raised by the event will be used to partially cover the insurance on the Historic Assumption Church and its surrounding structures. The public is welcome.
