The Humboldt County Independent Business Alliance (HumIBA) held a mixer last week in Fortuna to celebrate spring and local independent businesses. The mixer was held at Green Living Center and was co-sponsored by that business and another Fortuna-based business, Precision Intermedia.
HumIBA members and community supporters attended the event, enjoyed complimentary food and beverages, and watched a presentation by Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap, HumIBA's executive director.
The Humboldt County Independent Business Alliance (HumIBA) is a coalition of locally-owned independent businesses, citizens and community organizations united to support hometown businesses in Humboldt County.
Bill Thorington and Susan Campbell own Green Living Center, a business Thorington said started as a New Year's resolution several years back. “The Green Living Center was founded to help people live lessen their impact on the earth,” Thorington said. “We offer everyday products, apparel and foods that will help anyone reduce their carbon foot print.”
”Susan and I were excited about the concept of an organization that supported localization and locally owned businesses,” Thorington said, “so we were happy to become one of the Founding Members of the HumIBA. Having been a banker all my life, I know the value of keeping our dollars local, recirculating within our community”
Peter Krueger of Precision Intermedia, another founding member of HumIBA said “The Humboldt County Independent Business Alliance is all about supporting local businesses; which in turn keeps your shopping dollars local and helps create local small business jobs.”
It's free to list your qualifying local business at the HumIBA website, and Krueger added, “it”s a great resource for finding other independent businesses, whether you are a business or a shopper.”
Precision Intermedia is a multi media advertising agency, offering strategic marketing, graphic design, web, print, video production, audio, and animation services.
HumIBA works with other Humboldt County organizations and agencies dedicated to appropriate economic development and related issues in order to ensure a strong economic future for our region.
