OAKLAND - Blue-chip pitching prospects Jharel Cotton and Raul Alcantara will make their major league debuts for the A's this week.
Cotton, 24, aquired last month in the deal that sent Josh Reddick and Rich Hill to the Dodgers, will start Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels. Cotton has gone 3-1 with a 2.82 ERA at Triple-A Nashville. He has struck out 36 batters in 38 1/3 innings.
Alcantara, 23, will start Monday against the Angels. The A's got him from in the 2012 trade that sent Andrew Bailey to Boston. Alcantara is 4-0 at Nashville with a 1.18 ERA. He has 32 strikeouts, and just three walks, in 45 2/3 innings.
