Some red-and-white striped fun

Bluesy and jazzy LA singer-songwriter Candye Kane will take her tunes back to the Riverwood Inn in Phillipsville on Friday night. It'll be fun to check out the gal who's befriended and shared the stage with bands like Black Flag, Social Distortion and The Circle Jerks. "Candye Kane has been called a survivor, a superhero and the toughest girl alive -- all are also titles of her self-penned songs," according to the show's announcement. "Nominated for five National Blues Foundation Awards, winner of 10 San Diego Music Awards, starring in a sold-out stage play about her life and beating down pancreatic cancer in the last two years, Kane is one tough cookie. She has performed worldwide for presidents and movie stars but her path to success was not always glamorous or easy." Admission is $10 for the 8 p.m. Friday show at 2828 Avenue of the Giants.
